This is to bring to your attention that an opening picture for the article by Norman J. Brown in your August 2016 issue, “The Subtle Aspects Of Expectancy,” does a disservice to the author’s hard work.
In the article, an American roulette with 38 sectors is considered. However, the art at the beginning of the article depicts a European version with 37 sectors.
Moreover, the image was likely computer generated and, erroneously, there is no sector 36; instead, there are two sectors numbered “26.”
Were casino owners being that attentive to their actual equipment, no betting strategies from the article would be necessary for a gambler to profit in a big way.
