CALCULATING OR IN EXCEL
The OR-switching performance of a mutual fund’s NAV can be calculated in an Excel spreadsheet (sidebar Figure 2). Here, the data for one of the longest streak funds (DFSCX) was exported to Excel and entered in columns A and B (A2 to A3465 covering the time period September 1, 1988, to May 23, 2002). The data has been corrected for dividends, splits, and both long- and short-term capital gains.
