The quest for the best technical tools goes on. At one extreme, traders want better methods to smooth data to see the true trend, and at the other extreme, traders want to identify when that trend has indeed changed direction. One firm, Jurik Research, has come up with a collection of indicators that works to solve some of the problems of the classic technical indicators. These indicators are available for TradeStation, SuperCharts, or Microsoft Excel users. For this review, I used Excel. The indicators are the JMA (Jurik moving average), the Jurik VEL (zero-lag velocity) and the Jurik CFB (composite fractal behavior).
