Bart, you have a mathematical background. How did you get interested in the financial markets?
I got a PhD in chemical engineering in 1960, and it required extensive knowledge of advanced mathematics. Upon graduation, I worked in a research lab in Brecksville, OH. Many people I was working with were involved in the stock market. They had a stock club and I got interested in it because they were thinking ahead about retirement. That made a lot of sense to me so I started reading up on the stock market. I was asked to join the club and that’s what got me started ...
