In looking at Stephen Massel’s article “Shannon Entropy” in the August 2015 STOCKS & COMMODITIES, he gives message 1 as “0101110100110001” and message 2 as “1110001110000111.”
In the table of Figure 1 in the article, it shows that pattern 10 occurred three times for message 1, but should it have been four times instead? And accordingly, the probabilities for message 1 would be as follows:
(11, P=3/15) , (10 , P=4/15) , ( 01 , P=5/15) , (00 , P=3/15)
As for message 2, pattern 10 occurred two times instead of five, and the probabilities for message 2 should be as follows...
