COMPUTING NEEDS OF TRADERS
Should traders be using a particular type of computer for futures-trading activities?
Some traders believe that having the biggest and fastest computer will automatically translate into easy profits. However, for the average retail trader, this is certainly not true. In my opinion, with the exception of a scalping strategy or a fast daytrading strategy, having access to massive computing power probably plays a minimal role in trading success. That said, nothing can be more frustrating than sub-par computer performance; the last thing a trader needs is unnecessary stress. Accordingly, I believe that having access to a robust, quick, and reliable trading computer is important. Here are a few tips for preparing a favorable setup.
PC or Mac?
There is a small cult of devoted desktop Mac users out there, but unfortunately, most desktop-based trading platforms and software are not compatible with Macs...
