MAKING THE CALLS
Is it worth playing Apple’s September product launch?
Now that summer is almost over, and Apple (AAPL) stock’s 7-to-1 split is out of the way, what could make AAPL jump to new highs? After the performance the stock had in 2013, it was somewhat of a value play, but earlier this year, after a stellar earnings report, coupled with a stock buyback and stock split, it caught steam and as of summer 2014, the stock has run up 15% in three months. As AAPL nears its all-time highs of just above $100 (post-split price equivalent), what on earth could make this stock move even higher? Two words: product launch!
September is the time that kids go back to school, leaves start to fall off the trees, and football season is in front of us, but it’s also the time that AAPL prepares for its yearly product launch, just ahead of the holidays. Typically, this occurs in the third week of September, so we should be well ahead of the hype. Word on the street is that employees are being told not to go on vacation in September, so get ready.
