Let’s talk about the Stock Trader’s Almanac. It’s been around for a long time, even longer than our magazine has been. What was the idea behind publishing it?
My father, Yale Hirsch, started the Stock Trader’s Almanac. Actually, he started doing the compilation and research for it just before I was born. He had been publishing the Indicator Digest back in the early 1960s with his older cousin, my godfather, Sam Coslow, who had a career in the movie and song-writing business prior to getting involved in the financial markets. Coslow wanted to take all the market indicators that were out there and put them all in a service that can be useful to those who invest in the markets. He ran an ad in Barron’s and it was successful. He called on my father, who was working with Sam in the song-writing business at the time, to run the operations.
