Requirements: MetaStock Pro 12 is software you install on your computer and designed to support real-time intraday trading. It uses the Eikon for Retail Traders datafeed, which provides not only quotes but also robust access to news.

Upon launching MetaStock Pro 12 (MSPro12), the first thing you see is an overlay of the MetaStock main screen. Called the “Power Console” screen, it has three tabs on the left: Charts, Explorer, and System Tester. Selecting the Charts tab starts you off with finding the instrument you want (Figure 1). If you are familiar with a companion product Eikon for Retail Traders, it should be no surprise to see a worldwide list of exchanges to choose from.
Once you have chosen the instrument you want charted, you are just one screen away from seeing a chart. Click on “Next” (Figure 1: lower right-hand corner) to bring up a screen that lets you choose how many days you want charted and the interval. One of the nice features of MetaStock has always been the custom choice for interval. It lets you pick any of the usual intervals such as daily, weekly, or hourly and also has a choice called “Multiplier.” If you have chosen a daily interval and a multiplier of 2, all of your bars are now two-day bars. Try it. You’ll see some interesting results. Having made your choice of the number of days and the interval, you’ve created a chart (Figure 2).
