Zignals is a website for generating alerts and analyzing charts. My initial interest in this website came from an article I read in one of the local newspapers. The article said that Microsoft had bought a 15% interest in Zignals and the software detected overall price movements. This piqued my interest, as Microsoft has a lot of very smart folks. What attracted them to Zignals? I had to find out.
The answer lies in the ability of the site to do things that you usually have to pay for. For example, it automatically finds gaps and trendlines. The site has two halves and on one side you have the alert generation software, while on the other, there’s the charting software.
Before you get started, you’ll need to install Silverlight, a browser plug-in, and you’ll need to download it twice. The first download lets you install Silverlight 1.0, and the second lets you install Silverlight 2.0. Until Silverlight 2.0 is installed, you won’t be able to see any charts (and by the time this is published, you may have to download a still-newer version of Silverlight). But you’ll have to register first.
