Of all the major technical analysis and trading software packages on the market that allow traders to analyze and trade stocks, options, and futures, Townsend Analytics’ RealTick occupies an interesting niche.
On the one hand, RealTick belongs on that same stage with some of the other well-known, heavily advertised “elite” technical analysis and trading software packages, packages that are used by thousands of dedicated traders and investors in the US and around the world. In fact, compared feature for feature, RealTick can go toe-to-toe with virtually any of those systems—retail or institutional. As often as not, RealTick—on issues of scalability, order making, or just overall feature integration—will also be able to go where some of its peer software packages cannot. On the other hand, RealTick has a surprisingly low “whine factor” compared to the other technical analysis heavy-hitters (I had a term other than “whine” in mind, but Technical Analysis of STOCKS & COMMODITIES is nothing if not a publication for the whole family). One of the reasons why you know there are widely used technical analysis and trading software packages out there other than RealTick is because so many of the people using those other packages seem to spend so much time complaining about them.
