V.16:14 (616-617): Product Review: Option Wizard with backtest by John Sweeney
Product Description
Option Wizard with backtest, (Option Wizard, Inc.) Options calculator for Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software. by John Sweeney
How facile are you at using
Excel? If you can handle
cut-and-paste, then you can
get Option Wizard, a great
little options calculator, for
a comparatively low price. You just
have to be ready to handle the data input
by exporting numbers from your database
to ASCII, loading them into Excel,
copying the days you want and pasting
them into Option Wizard. Alternatively,
you can use historical volatilities for
most stocks and indices from the Web
(provided by Lawrence G. McMillan at
http://optionstrategist.com), and dispense
with the cut-and-paste regimen, if you
prefer.
Next, you put in the strike price, the
expiration date, risk-free rate, implied
volatility, dividend schedule and the
price of the underlying stock or index.
From there on, everything is virtually
instantaneous (Figure 1).
