This so-called "shell program" had previously been favorably reviewed for its ability to convert the impenetrable DOS 2.0+ tree structure to something fairly friendly for the non-tech customer. The newest version is labeled "3.5." Direc-Tree makes DOS more livable by presenting the inherent tree structure visually. Next it eliminates the long chain of hierarchical typing that DOS requires by replacing it with highlighted graphics and function keys. This effectively reduces the typing needed by 70 percent or perhaps more. You can do everything you can do in DOS (except FORMAT the hard disk) only far faster and with less confusion about where you are in DOS. |
