eSignal version 11.8 is arguably the top retail datafeed based on the numerous awards the product has received, but eSignal is more than just a datafeed, as you will soon find out. Here’s a look at some of its features.
SYMBOLS
Three main classes of symbols are supported: stocks, commodities, and foreign exchange (forex). For stocks, it’s simply a case of entering the symbol of your choice. If you don’t know the symbol, all you have to do is click on symbol lookup, where you can input any part of a company name while eSignal returns its best guesses as you type.
A special feature has been added for commodities. Since commodities are contracts with specific expiration dates, you need to specify which one you want, or if you prefer, you can specify that you want a continuous contract quote. For example, if you want a quote on the June 2014 S&P emini contract, you would type in “ES,” or “ES #F” for the continuous contract.
