Q&A by Don Bright

Don, I have followed your writings in Technical Analysis of STOCKS & COMMODITIES and in some Internet blogs. It seems that you offer serious advice about topics that traders can use. I have been trading for a couple of years now and have spent money on various trading courses. I find that most of these courses that I have participated in focus on general information instead of specific trading-related factors. I have some questions for you. I would appreciate if you could be as specific as possible in your answers.

1. Scaling in and scaling out: I have heard diverse opinions on scaling in and scaling out of shares in a stock. What are your thoughts on this?

2. Risk vs. reward: There’s so much talk about having a proper risk-to-reward ratio. Is there an objective number that should be followed?

3. Share size and price of stocks: Other than account size limitations, what should we look for regarding these points?

4. Adding shares to winners and or losers. Any comments?

Thanks for reading the magazine and for the kind words. I will do my best to address each issue with my bottom-line advice. As I look at your questions, it appears to me that they all seem to be related in one form or another.
